A lovely set of postcards in very good condition for their age. These cards
are all from 1900 to 1950's and show both exterior and interior pictures of The
Tower of London.
The Tower of London is one of the most iconic sites in the capital. It houses
The Crown Jewels which are still regularly used by the Queen. On Tower Green,
there is a memorial to those who were beheaded at The Tower, including the
three Queens of England – Anne Boleyn, Catherine Howard and Lady Jane Grey –
along with other high profile people such as Sir Thomas More and Thomas
Cromwell. Despite its reputation as a place of execution, only 22 people have
actually been executed within the Tower of London. Most people were killed at
nearby Tower Hill. It was considered a privilege to be executed within the
Tower, away from the jeering crowds .
**Please note that these postcards are vintage and as such show some minor
wear around the edges and a little discolouration to the backs of the cards.
Please see pictures.**
