Description
This lot of five post cards were made for the German American cruise line
Hamburg-Amerika. Each postcard has the "Hamburg-Amerika Linie Glockenabend"
signature. These illustrated post cards were made in the early 1900s and sold
on board the ships and were part of the "Night of the Chimes" collection.
Each card has a verse underneath the picture.
Scenes:
Die Glackenschmide pictures a man laying in a field with a house in the
background and deer and rabbits looking on. Unused in good vintage condition
with one small chip out of the right top edge. Signed H. deBruycker.
Die Schiffsglocke pictures a ship with sailors on board as well as departing
guests. A gand plays at the front of the ship and a porter is weighed down with
luggage. Used in good vintage condition with some smudges on the back.
Das Glocklein Des Eremiten pictures a monk ringing a bell while wild life
looks on. A fox sniffs at a pitcher and a deer has his nose in a basket of
apples. Unused in good vintage condition.
Irn Pfulglousen pictures a school master ringing the bell to dismiss school.
Children are rushing out with their toys. One boy has tripped while another is
picking fruit from a tree.Unused this card is in good vintage condition.
The fifth post card pictures the ship's stewards parading through the dining
room with trays of lit candles and domed food. The leader is playing the
glockenspiel while the diner's look on. This card is unused and in good
condition with some light smudging on the back.
